I first came across Giraffe Manor on Instagram, a photo so enchanting it stopped me mid-scroll. A giraffe was poking its head through a large window as guests casually enjoyed breakfast inside. The scene felt surreal, almost like something out of a storybook. From that moment on, visiting Giraffe Manor became a bucket list dream. Nestled in the Lang’ata suburb of Nairobi, Kenya, this boutique hotel is famous for its one-of-a-kind setting where guests share their stay with endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, who roam freely around the property and often join for meals through open windows and doors.

For a little of context, the Giraffe Manor was built in 1932. It was originally a private home and later converted into a hotel. The manor is set on 12 acres of private land within a 140-acre indigenous forest. If you are looking to stay on the property, then book in advance because reservations go fast!
Where is it and how to get there
The closest airport to the Giraffe Manor is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport NBO in Nairobi, Kenya. Once you’re in Nairobi, the easiest way to reach Giraffe Manor is either by rental car or by a ridesharing app like Uber. Transportation can also be arranged with the accommodation.
If you want to have a Giraffe Interaction, you don’t have to be staying on the property
Giraffe Feeding

One of the highlights of staying at Giraffe Manor is the opportunity to interact with the resident giraffes. These gentle giants often poke their heads through the windows of the manor during breakfast and tea time, allowing guests to feed them pellets and take photos up close.
However, you do not have to be staying at the hotel to be able to participate in the giraffe feeding. I would have loved to stay on the property however it was simply not in my budget. I did want to meet the giraffes though. Every day the facility opens its doors to tourist to have the opportunity for an up-close experience with the giraffes.
Please remember that while interacting with the giraffes, always follow the guidance of the staff and respect the animals’ space and behavior. Giraffes are known to head butt when irritated.
Less than 9 km away is the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust where you can see rescued elephants. It is another must see in Nairobi, Kenya. Read more about it here.
