Cameron Highlands felt like stepping into a cooler, greener world in Malaysia. I loved wandering through the endless tea plantations, picking fresh strawberries, and breathing in the crisp mountain air. Between the misty forests, colorful flower gardens, and cozy little cafés, it was the perfect escape from the heat and chaos of the cities.
How much time should you spend in the Cameron Highlands?
Cameron Highlands is a popular destination as a day trip destination from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. However, I found this town to be soooo cute. I stayed two days, but honestly a day is all you need to see everything. I took the bus that I booked on 12go.asia from Ipoh to the Cameron Highlands, and I arrived right in the center of town.
One thing to note is that Cameron Highlands has a one-way roadway. On holiday weekends, this gets backed up 2+ hours if not more sometimes.
Visit the rolling Tea Plantation

The main attraction and highlight of the Cameron Highlands are the rolling hills of tea that stretch as far as the eye can see. A must-visit is the famous BOH Tea Plantation, where you can walk through the lush green fields and even take a guided factory tour to see how the tea is processed. My favorite part was the gift shop, where you can sample every imaginable flavor of tea before choosing what to bring home. It was the first time in my life where I had a tea and coffee fusion drink. The cafe overlooking the plantation is also a perfect spot to sip a fresh cup while enjoying panoramic views of the valleys.
Go to the Strawberry Farm
You can hand-pick fresh strawberries right from the plants, which is one of the signature experiences in Cameron Highlands. A popular spot is Big Red Strawberry Farm, known for its huge greenhouses and easy self-picking setup. After filling your basket, you can relax at the on-site cafés that serve everything strawberry-themed think along the lines of cheesecakes, waffles, smoothies, juices, and even chocolate-dipped strawberries. It’s such a fun and tasty stop!

Go to the Lavendar Garden
Same concept as the Strawberry Farm, but now the theme is Lavendar. I found more lavender flavored items here than I have anywhere else in my life. If you have time, then check out the Lavendar Farm. Try the famous lavender ice cream! It’s delicious.
Explore the Mossy Forest

Pure magic! The Mossy Forest feels like stepping into another world, with twisted, moss-covered trees, thick mist, and cool, damp air that gives it an enchanted vibe. Walking along the boardwalk surrounded by orchids, ferns, and pitcher plants was surreal, like being inside a fairytale jungle. There’s also an overlook where you’re supposed to see sweeping panoramic views of the highlands and tea valleys, but it was rainy and completely fogged over when I went. My guide laughed and pulled out his phone to show me what the view should look like. LOL. Even without the view, the forest itself was worth the visit.
While you are in the area I recommend going on a hike. My favorite hike was the Jungle Trail #10. It was messsssy especially since it rained the day before. Bring proper shoes that you don’t mind ruining.
